Stalin I.V.
Against an agreement with the bourgeoisie

A source: Stalin I.V. Works. - T. 3. - M.: OGIZ; State Publishing House of Political Literature, 1946, pp. 266–267.

The counter-revolution of the landowners and capitalists has been broken, but it has not yet been finished off.

Kornilov's generals have been defeated, but the triumph of the revolution has not yet been assured.

Why?

Because instead of a merciless struggle against the enemies, the Compromisers are negotiating with them.

Because instead of breaking with the landowners and capitalists, the defencists arrange an agreement with them.

Because instead of outlawing them, the government invites them to the ministries.

In the south of Russia, General Kaledin raises an uprising against the revolution - and his friend, General Alekseev, is appointed chief of the main staff.

In the Russian capital, Milyukov's party openly supports the counter-revolution, and its representatives, the Maklakovs and Kishkins, are invited to the ministries.

It's time to put an end to this crime against the revolution!

It's time to say decisively and irrevocably that the enemies must be fought, and not agreed! [c.266]

Against the landlords and capitalists, against the generals and bankers, for the interests of the peoples of Russia, for peace, for freedom, for land—such is our slogan.

A break with the bourgeoisie and the landowners—such is the first task.

The creation of a workers' and peasants' government is the second task.
